- Step 1: Heat the skillet over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of cooking oil to the pan to prevent sticking and to help achieve that delicious sear on your burger patties.
- Step 2: Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, ensuring they are roughly the same size for even cooking.
- Step 3: Place each ball of ground beef onto the hot skillet. Using a spatula, smash down each ball firmly to form a patty about ¼ inch thick. Season each patty with salt and pepper to taste.
- Step 4: Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on the first side until they develop a beautiful golden crust. Flip each patty over and immediately place a small amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked through.
- Step 5: Warm the corn tortillas in a separate skillet or microwave to make them pliable.
- Step 6: Assemble the tacos by placing a smashed burger patty on each warm tortilla and topping with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced pickles, and diced onions.
- Step 7: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. Drizzle this creamy sauce over the assembled tacos for added flavor.
- Step 8: Serve your Smash Burger Tacos immediately while they are warm.
Notes
Consider making double the batch, as these tacos are perfect for leftovers or meal prep.
