- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it.
- Step 3: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt.
- Step 4: In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Step 5: Add the molasses, eggs, vanilla extract, and orange zest to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- Step 6: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, until just combined.
- Step 7: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Step 8: Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 9: Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
