- Step 1: Start by rinsing the cranberries under cold water. Inspect each berry and remove any dirt or damaged berries.
- Step 2: In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries and 4 cups of water. Stir gently to combine.
- Step 3: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Step 4: Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and allow it to cook for 10-15 minutes until the cranberries are soft.
- Step 5: Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl, pressing down on the solids to extract as much juice as possible.
- Step 6: Discard solids and transfer the juice to a clean storage container. Add lemon slices if desired and stir gently.
- Step 7: Serve chilled or at room temperature as a refreshing drink or mixer.
Notes
Homemade cranberry juice can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week. For longer storage, consider freezing it in airtight containers.
