- Step 1: Rinse cranberries under cold water, removing any stems or blemished berries.
- Step 2: In a large pot, combine the rinsed cranberries and water. Turn the heat to medium and bring to a boil.
- Step 3: Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes until cranberries burst and soften.
- Step 4: Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl.
- Step 5: While the juice is warm, stir in sugar, adjusting to taste. Optionally, add lemon or orange juice.
- Step 6: Allow to cool completely before transferring to a bottle or jar for storage.
Notes
Homemade cranberry juice can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, consider freezing it in ice cube trays.
