  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup for serving

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Step 2: Cut the loaf of French bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. Step 3: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Use a spatula to gently press the bread down, helping it absorb the custard better.
  4. Step 4: Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Step 5: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Step 6: Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
