Method
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Step 2: Cut the loaf of French bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Step 3: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Use a spatula to gently press the bread down, helping it absorb the custard better.
- Step 4: Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Step 5: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 6: Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- Step 7: Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Step 8: Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and is great for meal prep. You can also freeze it before baking for later use.
