Ingredients

For the Salad
  • 1 bag Doritos any flavor
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup lettuce shredded
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup black beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup corn canned or frozen
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup sour cream

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Cups
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Spoon
  • Serving Bowls

Method

  1. Step 1: Start by heating your skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook until it’s browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Make sure to drain any excess fat to keep your salad light.
  2. Step 2: After draining the fat, add the taco seasoning to the beef in the skillet. Follow the instructions on the seasoning packet for the recommended amount of water to add. Stir well and allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes until the beef absorbs the flavors.
  3. Step 3: While the beef is cooking, take your large mixing bowl and add the shredded lettuce, halved cherry tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, rinsed black beans, and corn. Toss these ingredients together to create your salad base.
  4. Step 4: Once the beef is ready, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a minute. Then, add the seasoned beef to the salad bowl and mix everything together gently.
  5. Step 5: Take the bag of Doritos and crush them slightly while they’re still in the bag. Gently fold the crushed Doritos into the salad mixture, taking care not to break them down too much.
  6. Step 6: Serve the salad in individual bowls. Top each serving with salsa and a dollop of sour cream for added flavor.

Notes

For an extra kick, consider adding a sprinkle of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños to the ground beef while it cooks.
