  • 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar for serving, optional

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Step 3: Place the cubed French bread into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Step 4: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  5. Step 5: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to ensure they are soaked.
  6. Step 6: Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  7. Step 7: Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
