- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, heat the whole milk and melted butter until warm, about 110°F. Add the milk mixture, along with the egg and vanilla extract, to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Step 2: Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Step 3: Once kneaded, place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Step 4: While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 5: After the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle, approximately 12x18 inches. Spread the softened butter evenly across the surface of the dough.
- Step 6: Sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon over the buttered dough, then evenly distribute the blueberries over the filling.
- Step 7: Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Slice the log into 12 equal rolls and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Step 8: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
- Step 9: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or let cool completely and add a drizzle of icing.
